The Edgartown Coffee Table . . .
Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard is a favorite town for oomph. One of the oomphettes makes this historic whaling village her home away from home and has forever.
We love sailing to one of the most beautiful harbors in New England and once moored, our view is not of marinas with endless towering yachts plugged in but of an old whaling town with its widows' walks and church steeples. Naturally, being shoppers, we can't wait to get ashore and stroll the scenic streets and check out some of our favorite stores, one of them being Tracker Home.
Edgartown's history dates back to 1642 when it was settled by the English and originally named Great Harbor. In 1671, it was renamed Edgartown after King James II young son and later became a whaling port of great importance during the 1800's. More recently, it has been famous for late night swims across the ferry slip from Chappaquiddick, the filming of "Jaws" and often being the presidential summer vacation spot of choice.
So with all those credentials, it became an obvious name for our most popular rectangular coffee table - the Edgartown. The large coffee table is the perfect spot to rest your "Dark and Stormies" between regattas. We love it in Dove White, Creme, Black, or Knockout Orange! But it looks pretty darn nautical in Club Navy with a natural raffia surface!
This large rectangular wood coffee table is a standout no matter what color you choose.

From across the pond . . .
Mydeco.com, a design blog/shopping site for the home based in the UK, found oomph at the NYIGF and posted us as one of their favorite finds. We have to be honest - this is our first International play and we are pretty excited.
They chose the Newport Console as a standout piece and the tini IIz as runner up!

Twice a year, the Gift Show descends on the behemoth centers of
Manhattan: the Javits, Pier 92, and Pier 94. Now, that’s a lot
of gifts. The prospect of the show can strike preemptive
exhaustion in the hearts (and legs) of all who have walked it–
myself included– but you always know that the many hours
you log on your pedometer will yield something new and
exciting amidst the mountain of kitsch.
This show was no different; for those of you who chose to save
your feet from unsightly sores, here is a short list of my particular
favorites:
Pretty hard to disagree with those flashy choices. Now all we
have to do is figure out how to ship them across the pond!

Thanks for stopping by - visit us again in January!
what’s new: nyc pier show summer 2010
PUBLISHED on AUG 19TH, 2010 by GOODBONE
Twice a year, the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) is the place to see the largest display of the world’s best best home, gift and lifestyle resources. It takes place at the Javits Center, and Piers 92 & 94. We attended on Monday and came away inspired by so much of what we saw. Trends? Not surprisingly: color. Gone are the organic, neutral color schemes. It’s clear that Americans are looking for a little bit of brightness in what has been a pretty difficult period in the word of home design and construction. We’re happy about that because we’re big fans of confident color both in interiors and fashion.
The team from OOMPH, now exactly a year old and thriving in their new business were in attendance with several new pieces. We had borrowed one of their terrific coffee tables for our Good Housekeepingshoot. They’ve introduced this new console table and the mirror above it for their fall 2010 collection. The color is new, too. While we wouldn’t like to see these pieces together in a room, we’d take either one in a heartbeat and pair it with something vintage.
This crazy back-to-back two seater chair is adorable. Upholstered in a gorgeous dark brown velvet, it stole the show. We love white piping on any upholstered piece. It’s a detail that lasts.
Ooomph sells the most versatile “tini” side tables in a variety of clever shapes–perfect for small apartments and tight spaces. They’re reasonably priced, too. You can find pricing at ooomphonline.com.
This is a new nesting table combination, painted in the palest blue lacquer finish. So feminine and pretty. You’d have a hard time finding anything else like this, and that’s exactly what makes their line great.

Now we are LIVING . . .
Martha Stewart LIVING magazine loves oomph and featured the EDGARTOWN SIDE TABLE in Tricorn Black with natural raffia as one of their favorite side tables in their September issue. Of course, Martha has impeccable taste and it's a sure bet that if Martha likes it, so will you.
Like Martha says, "it's a good thing."

The party is over . . .
We packed up our booth on the Pier and headed back to Connecticut exhausted but ecstatic at having had another wonderful 5 days at the NYIGF.
Our booth looked great and everyone loved our new line for fall. We featured our new KNOCKOUT ORANGE and TURKISH COFFEE colors. The console was a favorite as was the Mirror and Nesting Tables.
But hands-down, the most popular piece in the oomph booth was the SIAMESE CHAIR which became the favorite resting spot for friends seeking a little respite from the frenzy in the aisles.
Leslie Littlejohn and Lynn Morgan Many thanks to all who visited and to all our oomph fans - we thank you for your amazing support. We had a wonderful time! |
